Brenda Canup

After 4 years of teaching and coaching, Johnny spent 31 years with Wachovia Bank and 6 years with BB&T. He is now happily retired!

Myself: 11 yrs. teaching home economics; 11 yrs. Director of Voc. Educ./Exceptional Children for Kinston City Schools/Lenoir County Public Schools; 8 yrs. principal Kinston High School and 3 yrs. assistant superintendent of Lenoir County Schools; 10 yrs. Director of the Lenoir Memorial Hospital Foundation; Retired May 2011.

Our years at Grainger were among our favorites. We had wonderful students, many of whom are in the Class of '69. Sure they pulled pranks, skipped school, cut up in class, and gave us many challenges, but what a wonderful time to be in high school! Relatively care-free days before the appearance of gangs and drugs and lack of discipline so prevalent in later years.
