Roland Latour, (GHS68) passed from this life on December 5, 2019 in California. Roland was the twin brother of Richard Latour (GHS69).
Roland graduated from Grainger High School with the class of 1968 having skipped a grade in elementary school. After a brief stint at the US Air Force Academy in Colorado and NC State University, he moved to Atlanta, GA working as a land surveyor. He later moved to Florida where he became a certified commercial diver. After a brief career as a professional diver, he moved to Louisiana, working in the Gulf of Mexico. There he used his surveying skills working on an offshore survey boat in rig and pipeline location in the oil industry.
Roland returned to Atlanta to attend compter school and following his graduation he moved to Silicon Valley in California where the began a successful career in computer hardware and later software support. Roland was able to retire at age 50 and relocated to southern Oregon to enjoy his love of nature and the sport of mountain biking.
He enjoyed many backpacking trips with twin brother Richard throughout the Sierra Nevada Mountains and canoe trips to Yellowstone National Park and in British Columbia.
He is missed by this family and especially his twin brother.
