I'm so very sorry to hear about John's passing. It has been so long since I seen him. We did correspond through email some years back. He was, as I remember a very soft-spoken guy. Always very kind. God Bless John and his family
John and I were pretty good friends in high school. As is often the case we went our separate ways....He was a funny guy. I remember he failed his first driving test because he had a wreck or something. He had a way of endearing himself to you and I am cerain that he will be sorely missed by family and friends.May God comfort those John has left behind.
Very sad. Our families were close friends when we were very young. He and I were 'little boys' together and connected repeatedly off and on all the way into college. My little sister Barbara and his little sister Marta were close friends, and I think they still stay in touch with each other infrequently.
I remember him as a good friend with whom I shared many laughs in our youth. We lost touch after college, but I got updates through our sisters every now and then.
I like to think I knew John well. He was a good friend over the years, even during my 25+ years here in California. John kept me informed of the Grainger 69 latest.
We grew up together attending Catholic school and served as altar boys at mass, boy scouts, swim team, etc. John once burned down our pup tent during a scout outing though he'd probably blame me for it. We got into lots of trouble together just for fun and suffered the consequenses.
I will remember John as a guy who stuck to his principles regardless of the fallout, always trying to be loyal to his faith.
Time zones require early calling from here and when asked if I could call him late, John would quip, "yes, but don't call me late for dinner" with a chuckle.
I was very sad to hear of John's death. I was fortunate to see him a number of times here in Wilmington when Don and I were developing Pelican Reef up in Hampstead. He had occassion to drive by my office fairly frequently and would stop in to visit. He was such a great guy --- and the girls will agree he was always very easy on the eye! I had not seen him in recent years and did not know he had been ill. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family. Rest in Peace, John.
I was so sorry to learn of John's passing. I heard about it from Pete's post on FB. I pray for a family that has been through so much and lost so many good people in such a short time. Pete went to our church and I was crushed as we all were when Marta passed, then his sister Paula right behind and now this. I pray they find peace in sweet memories.
Ever since I was 5 years old John was like a brother to me. Through all the crisis in my life,John was always with me. He listened, we cried, we laughed, but most of all we just liked being around each other. No matter how long it had been we always picked up where we left off. And to think it all started in catholic school many years ago and has lasted all of our lives is surreal.
We enjoyed the simplest of things and could make something funny out of nothing. He was quick witted and so funny that he had me in stitches most if the time. I don't think we were able to contain ourselves in certain situations which made it even more hilarious. I'm laughing just thinking about him!
John was one of the most talented and creative person I have ever known. Some of his artwork has been trademarked. It is called "punimals". They are humorous takes on animals that will make you smile. The creativity he had was limitless to say the least. Through his works of art he was able to bring out his wit as well as his talent... A great combination!
I know that my talented and good friend is in a happy place and making all the angels laugh! He's doing what he does best.....finding humor in absolutely nothing!
