SNOW HILL - Mary Melinda Pridgen Murphy, 67, of Snow Hill, passed away on Thursday, May 17, 2018 at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd Albert Pridgen and Mary McDonald Pridgen. Mary is survived by her husband, David Lawrence Murphy of the home; son David Lee Murphy of Snow Hill; brother Mike Pridgen and wife Cathy, of Kinston; nephews Joshua and Nathan Pridgen , and special friends Deborah and Rodolph Joyner. Graveside services will be held Sunday, May 20, 2018 at 2:00 pm at Westview Cemetery with Pastors, Mike Pridgen ( Melinda's brother) and William Turner officiating. Visitation will be at the home of her brother, Mike Pridgen, 813 Alphin Road, Kinston, NC. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to New Heart Ministries c/o Phyllis Williams, 1212 N. Greene St., Greenville, NC 27834.

After high school, Melinda attended Wilson School of Nursing and then on to ECU for her BS in Nursing.  She and Deborah Joyner (class of 69) married best friends and settled in Greene County. Melinda left nursing in 1999 for health reasons.
